2011 Resolutions, Volume 6

Posted by theepicraiders on January 19, 2010 at 5:31 PM
We've finally landed at Kirin Tor, a little late, I know. I apologize for being off schedule. After my first resolution to post more I didn't really look at my busiest days in my estimations.
I had a male orc hunter named Crukie I was using to test out how hard it was to level using just the starting gear. Naked troll did this for the most part already. And it was a little tough. So I bailed on it to make a cooler Cataclysm toon.

So on to the quick and dirty.

Realm: Kirin Tor
Sherfandrago, First Among Toons
Quick Note: I've hit on this point before, but this is the first character I created when I started my WoW account in November, 2005. I had always imagined this dwarf rouge as the Han Solo-esque scoundrel, a gun-toting and sneaky but well liked rouge. So perhaps I'll have to get a spaceship...
Necessary goals: Level this toon to outlands. Didn't happen. Got a few more levels under my belt though.
Time permitting goals: Level to 80 and get the rest of my toons on this server heirloom items. Not sure this will be the first toon on this server to 85. So he may be getting heirlooms.
Lofty goals: Get a turbo flying machine and a Mekinger's chopper. Still like this one though.

Mariele, Warrior Preistess
Quick note: The plan is to level this toon exclusively by PvP. So any quest marked as PvP and the exp from battle grounds only. I'm not sure if rated battle grounds effect the lower levels, but I might be interested in waiting until then to make my big push. Further posts concerning Mariele are here and here.
Necessary goals: Get back to 28 for new PvP gear upgrades and better ability to contend in a BG. I can do good in a battle ground at level 21. But I can't heal for too long, and while I can keep two or three level 28-29 horde occupied by healing and bubbling myself Nay more than that and I get crushed like a leaf under a boot in late autumn. Got to level 28 and had a problem buying the new gear. Only to have a helpful GM remind me I had purchased it before the "you must be this level to buy  gear" mandate and they were in my bank /sheepish. Also the change in brackets to include only five levels helps a lot.
Time permitting goals: Get to a level where I can do PvP dailies outside of the Call to Arms quests. Especially now that Call to Arms quests are gone...
Lofty goal: Join an Arena team and get over a 1500 rating. Still sounds good to me.

Carlah, Vegan Pacifist
Quick note: Well this is the reason I started a blog. I wanted to see how far you could get without hurting anything. I've dropped some layers from my character as the time has gone by. I will not do escort quests where the escort walks through killing everything in sight, I probably won't do "Put out the Fires" next Hallow's Eve because of the massive damage I do on my stat sheet and the unnecessary piling up of "kills". That event really dampened my mood, as it eradicated any irrefutable evidence that I was progressing through the game without trying to hurt anything. I'm currently planning on trying to get Carlah to the Outlands before the Cataclysm and then trying to blaze a trail through new quests and changed zones on a new toon in order to keep that perfect record. The Vegan thing just doesn't work in WoW, you can be a Ovo-Lacto vegetarian in the game and get up to a fairly high level of cooking, and if you were not a pacifist you could level up into Northrend with your cooking, though you can't max it. There's more than a few posts about Carlah but here's the first and a few more.
Necessary goals: Level up to Outland. This is about all I know I want to do. Though this is one of those things where the journey is everything. Didn't happen, so now I'm having fun finding the new quests to level up. Also I took up archeology as the gathering from herbs and artifacts is good exp. I did make it all the way to level 40, however.
Time permitting goals: Reach the level cap and have a party! Sure
Lofty goal: Outfit myself in all purples and dance a merry jig in Dalaran. Getting a full set of purple without looting anything can be tricky. I also don't want to do the introductory quests in the tourney as mounted combat doesn't seem very pacifist. It will get trickier as level 85. There's not enough quests to get to exalted in most of these and maybe there is one or two dailies to get faction epics. Buying and crafting gear is all I do and now I can't get orbs without killing something. Fun times.

Talucian, DEHTA Druid
Quick note: I first started this character as the successor to Mariele as a pacifist. I always wanted Mariele to be a "first do no harm" character, but I realized I had gone 12 levels beating stuff senseless. So I rolled a druid to try to run through to 80 without doing any damage. I was immediately discouraged by the sheer lack of quests on Teldrassil that refrain from killing. So I rolled Carlah. Then I got to Northrend on my main Cerrander and thought, it would be cool to make my own guild of extremist environmentalist druids. And so Talucian became the patron Druid of treehugging.
Necessary goals: Create the DEHTA guild. Gotta gotta do it.
Time permitting goals: Create the rules and start recruiting like minded druids to an all druid guild.
Lofty goals: get to level 80 and do 10 man raids with nothing but druids in them. Druid tanks, druid ranged and melee DPS and druid healers. I'd be ok with doing and all druid 5-man at any level.

Fingie, Trogg-hating Warrior
Quick note: This is really my first attempt since Huju to create a more complete RP character than just "I play on an RP server, every now and then I'll try to speak in /say." Fingie is an old veteran guard from Gnomeregan. When the gnomes lost their city to the Troggs he lost everything. He still has unshakable faith in engineering and blames the Troggs for everything. With a sword in hand he's ready to take back Gnomer by force and push the Troggs into extinction. Additionally he doesn't believe Mekkatoque is the real problem, just an unfortunate bystander to the Trogg menace.
Necessary goals: Kill Troggs, and lots of them. So that mean I need to get into the level range to queue into Gnomer and then run it until I can't queue for it anymore. Not quite to gnomer level yet.
Time permitting goal: Bring down other Trogg places of power and discover my character.
Lofty goals: become High Tinker of the Gnomes. Just because it's not possible.

Ghastli, Ghost Explorer
Quick note: I was really intrigued by the quest in Blackrock Depths given by Franclorn Forgewright.  The ghostly quest giver made we wonder what else was available out in the world for dead players. Are there more quests? Are there places where spirits gather? I'm not sure anyone actually has explored these possibilities. Now with Cata there may be even more possibilities.
Necessary goal: Hit level 10 so I can see her in the armory and then die and never rez again. Done, though I haven't gotten around to the actually dying part.
New goal-Wisp around Teldrassil.
Time Permitting goals: Explore all the nooks and crannies of the undead world. The spirit world is a better term.
Lofty goals: Get hearthed in Dalaran to get easy access to places while I'm alive. Wow this is all fail now. Good old SW or the new Auberdine are the best spots now.

Seloski, Hefty Mage
Quick note: This Dranaei mage was supposed to be a melee mage or something like that. But I think this will just turn into the bank toon. Though I do have a pretty sweet collection of buffs from seasonal events, ie I'm still a bunny. smile I try not to log on him all that much and luckily there isn't much I have funnel through him to other characters.
Necessary goals: Keep that bunny buff on as long as possible.  This will be the third easter I've had the same bunny buff. I've grabbed a few other seasonal buffs too.
Lofty goals: get some cool Druid or Hunter staff and run around meleeing things like a moron. Still like this one.
